Lead a Roman legion in Shieldwall, a tactical strategy game where you command soldiers on the battlefield to conquer Gaul for the glory of Julius Caesar. You take the role of a high-ranking officer who controls an entire unit of warriors—they follow your every move, flank enemies, and respond instantly to your commands. Command your troops with intuitive keyboard controls. Issue simple but powerful orders—Follow Me to advance your unit, Missiles to rain projectiles on distant foes, Charge to break enemy lines, and Hold to maintain defensive positions. Each command is bound to specific keys and displayed in the bottom-right corner, alongside your shield counter that tracks defensive strength. Master these core mechanics and you'll dominate any engagement. Your soldiers react intelligently to threats: they raise shields when spears fly toward them, just as you do, creating authentic tactical depth.

Every battle begins with tactical preparation. Spend gold to recruit different types of fighters, from heavily armored infantry to ranged troops. Unit slots are limited, forcing you to think carefully about composition before engaging. Will you field balanced forces or specialize for a specific enemy weakness? These choices directly impact your ability to succeed in the field.

Conquer territories by capturing flags scattered across each region while eliminating all opposition. You'll face colored enemy teams of two to four soldiers, each responding dynamically to your attacks and strategies. Defeat them, seize the flags, and expand Roman control. Victory in battle yields gold—currency you'll reinvest to strengthen your forces for increasingly difficult encounters ahead.
